QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
- Q: I've added license string as mentioned in registration instructions, but it does not work. The program still
comes up unregistered. What's wrong?
- A: Possible reasons of mistakes in registering process can be the
following:
- Please check, that you are using the more recent version (3.0) of
LinkViewer. In case if you are using any earlier version (1.0, 2.0 or 2.1),
please download the newest one from sites mentioned in "Downloads" section.
It is imposible to register earlier versions using given license string.
- The given license string (exactly the specified amount of symbols)
must be copied in file LIC30.TXT, using clipboard and notepad or any
other appropriate text editing tool. As a result you must get file
LIC30.TXT with one text line . Any spaces are essential and there must be no additional spaces or other symbols at
the end of this line. File LIC30.TXT must be placed in the same directory where you installed LinkViewer.
Usually it is C:\Program Files\IMCS LU\LinkViewer 3.0 .
- Registered LinkViewer 2.1 users which have upgrade license must have also valid version 2.1 license file LICENSE.TXT in LinkViewer 3.0 directory.
If you have installed LinkViewer 3.0 in separate directory, then you must copy file LICENSE.TXT to LinkViewer 3.0 directory.
- Q: For what "Show current" and two additional buttons under them are necessary?
- A: "Show current" button is necessary if you've scrolled far from the current box(site) on the map.
If you want to return to the current site on the map (to see them), you must either scroll back (if you know which is the
right direction) or click once more on the appropriate line on the page list or push "Show current" button.
Two other buttons (with rectangle and line shown on them) are necessary for map editing "by hand".
To edit map, you must switch on editing mode (Map/Edit) and then you are allowed to add new boxes (click on button
with rectangle image and then on the map where you want to place this new rectangle) or lines (click on button with line
image and then on the box where line starts and then on the box where line ends). In map editing mode you are also allowed
to delete symbols or make other essential changes on the map.
- Q: Is it possible to use LinkViewer as simple editing tool?
- A: If you are satisfied with given graphical tools (boxes and arrows) then you can use LinkViewer for simple diagram
building. Saving, printing, layouts are completely independent from web exploring. If the given LinkViewer possibilities are
not quite adequate to your needs, but you like principles on which LinkViewer is built, contact us
support@gradetools.com and maybe we can talk about editor especially for you?
- Q: Why print outs of the maps have the black border?
- A: It is "frame" in our terminology. It can be easily switched off by unchecking "frame" checkbox in printing
options dialog.
- Q: Is it possible to print the map in a smaller version -- somewhere
between the two page option and enormous big (say, 100 pages) that LinkViewer gives me ?
- A: Yes. You can choose amount of information printed on one page by changing page size directly on map.
To do this you must at first choose "Show print pages" in options dialog. After map is compleated, catch one of
FIRST (upper left corner) page borders and move it (see picture). Page proportions will be saved.
